Woody Plant Seed Manual

This is Agriculture Handbook 727, the update of the Seed of Woody Plants in the United States which was first published in 1974. At 1,233 pages this is a formidable reference! Part One consists of 7 chapters on general principles such as seed biology, harvesting, storage, testing, and nursery practices. Part Two includes 236 genera of native and introduced woody plants, many of which are tropical species or western natives which have become widely used. For each genus, there is a description of growth habit; occurrence and use; flowering and fruiting; collection, extraction and storage of seeds; pregermination treatments; germination test; and nursery practices. The CD version of the manual is password protected and therefore doesn't allow printing or editing. The password to remove the security settings is "rngr" without the quotes.
