Propagule Collection: Seeds are collected between September 5 th and October 27th.
Mature fruit is an urticle with a membranous pericarp bearing one seed. There are several capsules per inflorescence.
Seeds are black, shiny, hard, round, and flat at maturity and are 2 mm long.
Propagule Processing: Seed Cleaning: gently rub seeds over sieve No. 18 and blow off as much chaff as possible.
Seed Storage: Seeds are kept dry and stored at room temperature.
Pre-Planting Treatments: Seeds are soaked in water for 24 hours; freshwater rinse following the soak.

Annual Practices for Perennial Crops:
Fully Controlled Greenhouse.
Sowing Method: Transplanting Germinants.
50 seeds are sown per flat containing Sunshine Mix #4 Aggregate Plus (peat moss, perlite, major and minor nutrients, gypsum, and dolomitic lime).
Seeds are mixed with media to sow and are covered.
Flats are misted periodically to keep surface moist.
Flats are placed on a heated bench.
Seeds are sown on June 1st.
% Germination: 86%
Establishment Phase: Seeds germinate 10 days after sowing.
Seedlings are transplanted 10 days after germination to individual containers 2"x2"x5" pots (Treeband #5) containing standard potting mix of peat moss, fir bark, perlite, and sand.
Length of Establishment Phase: 25 days
Active Growth Phase: After transplanting, seedlings are hand watered and kept in the greenhouse for contiued growth and development.
