Propagule Processing: | FLower heads passed through the Westrup Brush Machine one time at speed 11 and seeds came out at the bottom of the machine. A coarse shell and medium stiff brushes were used. Several procedures were tried following the initial cleaning. The seeds were aspirated once at 0.01 inches of water column to remove light trash. In another seedlot the seeds were aspirated twice at 0.01 inches of water column and then an indent cylinder, size 24/64" holes, was used to remove long material. In another seedlot the aspirator was set at 0.02 inches of water column to remove light trash and then a 14 x 14 square hole screen was used to remove the larger trash. |
