Pehr (Peter) Kalm and Environmental Change in the Mid-Eighteenth Century
This paper reviews the two-year visit of the Swedish botanist Pehr (Peter) Kalm to colonial North America, with general focus on his analyses and insights into deforestation in the Delaware River valley and particular attention to his comments on Atlantic white cedar (Chamaecyparis thyoides).
