Chapter 16 - Program for Improving Southern Pines
The effectiveness of forest genetics research in the southern pines must be evaluated on the basis of the gains in terms of wood volume growth and quality. A wide variety of agencies employing geneticists, tree breeders and foresters, plus highly trained men in related professional fields, has accumulated highly useful information. A coordinated program of work is needed to make the best use in general forestry of what is known and to generate further research results.
