Propagule Processing: Five seedlots were run through the Westrup Brush Machine once with medium stiff brushes, coarse shell (size 10) at speed 11. The seeds fell out of the bottom of the machine and out of the chute.
For the third seedlot, the seeds that came out at the chute end were run twice and three times for seeds that fell out of the bottom of the machine.
Seeds from the first seedlot were aspirated at 0.02 inches of water column to remove the light trash, then 1/17 round hole, 1/20 round hole, and 6 x 20 square hole screens were used to remove larger size trash.
The second seedlot was aspirated at 0.01 inches of water column and no further cleaning was done.
Seeds from the third seedlot that were run numerous times through the brush machine were aspirated once at 0.02 inches of water column followed by further cleaning with a 9.5/64 inch round hole screen to remove sticks.
Seeds from the fourth seedlot were aspirated at 0.01 and 0.02 inches of water column to remove the light weight trash and then sticks were removed with a indent cylinder shell size 24/64 inch in diameter.
Seeds from the fifth seedlot were aspirated at 0.01 inches of water column to remove light weight trash and screened with 9.5/64 round hole screen to remove sticks.
