Family Scientific Name: Fabaceae
Family Common Name: Pea
Scientific Name: Trifolium longipes
Common Synonym: Trifolium hansenii
Common Name: Longstalk clover
Ecotype: High elevation ecotype at Lassen National Park, Ca
General Distribution: This plant typically grows in moist environments along the Western US.
Propagation Goal: plants
Propagation Method: seed
ProductType: Container (plug)
Stock Type: stubby containers
Time To Grow: Weeks
Pre-Planting Treatments: Our trials showed Trifolium longipes to be a seed type that grows well without a cold treatment to stimulate germination. We saw no calculable benefit to a 90 day cool (38F) treatment but instead saw a decrease to 15% germination compared to the 17% germination when placed directly into the growth chamber (75F days and 50F nights).
