The flowers were run once through the Westrup Brush Machine at speed 11. A coarse shell (wire 10)and medium stiff brushes were used to separate the seeds from the flowers. Seven seedlots were cleaned at different times. No aspiration was done on one seedlot. Three seedlots were aspirated twice at a vacuum of 0.01 inches of water column to remove light trash with hair clumps broken up for one seedlot before the second aspiration. An indent cylinder, size 24/64 " hole, was used to remove debris in one seedlot and a 45/1000 inch round hole screen was used with the second seedlot. Two seedlots were aspirated once at a vacuum of 0.01 inches of water column to remove light trash, and 8/64 inch and 6/64 inch round hole screens were used to remove additional trash. |
